As we all know, technology is advancing faster than any ordinary person could even catch up. Especially in sense of really owning the latest or update tech gadget. Prices for tech gadgets deflated and depreciated day by day and prices for gadgets may had already decreased just after a month introduced into the market.
Well, i’m not about to talk about the advancement of technology. Rather i would like to mention bout some of a few tech gadgets revolution that is becoming obsolete because of the advancement of technology and the advancement of handphone evolution.
The BIG LOSERS
Walkman/Discman/Mini Discman & even the MP3/MP4 Player
i will cut the crap, by not even mentioning bout walkman or discman or so forth, as those are really obsolete gadget.
Discman kena saupei a long time ago…. Last time selling for a few hundred.
now who really need these gadgets, since even a low end handphone already has a built in mp3 player??? some may say that the built in mp3 players in handphones output quality still incomparable with a dedicated mp3 player. While nowadays, handphones manufacturers/brand had already focused on manufacturing handphones with high quality players & speakers to provide a high quality output. The marketing focus for most phones are even focused on their ability to provide hight quality output…. Now… WHO NEEDS A MP3 PLAYER???

The House Phone
Haha…. who still uses the house phone ar?????
now Maxis got wat family plan la. DiGi got “I will follow you”. Celcom got “Who Says they got the widest coverage?”. Practically saying, the house phone fixed line is jus for providing a line for our broadband usage. Some dont even have a fixed line anymore, since wireless broadband is at large, and WiMax technology is jus around the corner.
The Camera
Not talking bout the tradisional film camera(This was killed off by the digital camera). Should one day, camera phones have image sensors and processors as big as digital camera has. Prolly by then, digital camera is becoming obsolete as well.
The mobile phone industry has been rocked by a wave of revolution when camera phones was introduced. From the beginning introduction of 0.1-0.3 megapixels camera on handphones, till today’s whopping 8.1 megapixels camera phones… i would say thats a big big advancement.
The upcoming SE model C905 with an impressive 8.1megapixel camera, with face detection, auto-focus, xenon flash, image stabilizers, vid recording at qvga 30fps, etc……..
Although the picture quality of camera phones is undoubtly incomparable with digital cameras. Due to the size of the image sensors, processors & the material of the lens itself. but at times, at the street, in shopping malls, or anywhere you can ever imagine, we can simply detect someone holding a CAMERA PHONE taking pics. rather than having a digital camera or even a bulky DSLR.
Camera phone’s mobility and compact-ness simply offset the feature of the digital cameras or the DSLRs. since – WE DO CARRY OUR HANDPHONES IN OUR POCKET AROUND EVERYWHERE WE GO. even into the toilet. Now do we carry a digital camera into the toilet?

The new models of PPC (pocket PC) now always comes in with a phone. Or izzit, they merged the handphone with the PDA. becoming a “PDA phone”.

Most PDA manufactures had now change course into manufacturing PDA phones rather than jus a PDA. example: The thing is, now i got 2 pockets on my pants, 1 side put my wallet, the other put my phone. Now where should i put my tradisional PDA?? Thats how technology revolution changed the world….. such simple idea simply jus came out from our daily convieniences.
Radio/Calculator/Personal Organizers/Calenders
Handphone platform had managed to stuffed in some of the major useful gadgets which made the handphone having a more variability of usage.
The Electronic Dictionary
Haha…. Got Nicholas Teo as ambassador for Besta wo 
though electronic dictionary is still a must have for many students and weak language/vocab users. The electronic dictionary’s function is emulated by dictionary softwares and java programs. Which is compatible with most handphones. Handphone users can easily acquire the use of a dictionary just from the same gadget that they use to make calls.
Not to mention, the latest electronic dictionary like the one shown in the pic may cost up to a premium price of RM1500. Why pay more??

Cant fully compare and substitute TV la. but portability is a factor…

Who knows when laptops becomes obsolete?? Laptops are becoming a common gadget nowadays, and its a common scene seeing peoples using their laptops at cafes, librarys…

When portability matter, gadgets gets smaller and smaller, a few different gadgets got merged into 1 all in one powerful device.
PDA phones had become a common phone with computer abilities. Although limited, but with the advancement of technologies. Who know one day, it may replace the Laptop.
GPS devices
As seen on the picture, a GPS navigation device in a car. When built in GPS receivers are a common technology. We can simply carry around our handphone as a GPS device.

There’s virtually no limits for the evolution of mobile phones.
These small little handy gadget has experience major developments and changes during the pass decade, as communications proved to be one of basic needs of human.
The latest phones with massive functions & capabilities may turn out to be a luxurious good to own in these days, but certainly had not shown its full potential for a full stop.
Rather than getting 10 gadgets for 10 functions. Why don’t jus get a handphone??
