Wales by uncle chan

I went to north Wales with my friends just after the Scotland trip. Wales also a part of United Kingdom and bordered by England to east. We went to Wales for 1 day trip since we have to return the rental car on the next day. Because short of time, we just chosen three places to visit. First is Conwy Castle, second is Caernarfon Castle and third is South Stack.

First, we going to Conwy. A lot of boat at Conwy.

The smallest house in the Great Britain. Double-storey house some more.

That is Conwy Castle.

How good if you have a boat here.

Conwy town walls.

After Conwy, we going to next destination , Caernarfon.

Caernarfon Castle.

This castle pretty same with the Conwy Castle.

View from one of the Caernarfon Castle tower.

The Prince Charles (Diana’s husband), crowned as Prince of Wales at Caernarfon Castle in 1969.

Third destination, South Stack.

Strong wind and cold here. Beautiful view. I recommend South Stack if you going to north Wales.

Don’t walk too close to the cliff, there no fence covered.

Lighthouse.

Sunset.

Sunset at South Stack.

That’s all for the Wales trip. Short of time but still able to visit 3 places. South Stack is the best among the other two.

Inverness/John O’ Groats/Loch Ness/Fort William , Scotland by uncle chan

After Edinburgh, day 3 of the trip to Scotland, me and my friends continue our journey to the north of Scotland. Raining all the time when we at Scotland  . Our first station is Inverness.

Inverness is not popular with tourist, we just pass here and have a lunch before going to John O’ Groats.

Unknown building at Inverness, probably is a church.

We continue our journey from Inverness to John O’ Groats. It take 3 hours to reach John O’ Groats – the most northerly of Scotland.

On the way to John O’ Groats.

Found a private castle when going to John O’ Groats. Private castle , private horse …. Maybe the owner is nobility , superstar, millionaire etc.

The main entrance to the private castle. Like a movie scenes in some Hollywood movie. :)

We stop again at an unknown beach which not far away from John O’ Groats. Don’t know why the water are smelly and dirty.

Finally, we reach John O’ Groats ! We realize that no people and no other car here …. oh my god. What a terrible place  . Here like a dead place because we reached here too late already, some more a bit raining. Souvenir & gift shop closed.

Cold and terrible here.

Damn, it just wasting our time to come John O’ Groats for nothing  . At the beginning, we planned sleep inside the car at John O’ Groats. But this place really too terrible so we decided go back Inverness again. 3 hours driving again  .

Next day, day 4 trip of Scotland, we go to Tesco using their toilet for brush teeth and wash face after sleeping 1 night inside the car in a roofed car park. Thank you very much Tesco, because you can found Tesco easily in UK  . Tesco has it own products such as coke , bread and everything else! Include petrol ! Geng !

After Tesco, we go to Urquhart Castle located beside Loch Ness. Loch Ness is a lake, Scotland call it as loch instead of lake or sea inlet.

Urquhart Castle is a ruined castle. As you can see in the picture.

Something like Catapult.

Some view of the castle.

Sit at there and waiting Loch Ness monster – Nessie come out. haha

Beautiful view of Loch Ness from the castle.

Scotland !

Loch Ness, famous on the legendary Loch Ness Monster, also known as “Nessie” “尼斯湖水怪”.

It just hoax :) , Nessie is not exist.

Movie based on Loch Ness Monster.

Loch Ness

Loch Ness, view from inside Urquhart Castle.

After visit Urquhart Castle, we going to Fort William.

Fort William. Nothing special here.

A guy and a dog. The dog like a toy :) cute.

Fort William.

This little girl earn a lot of money ! . Any way, she is a music talent.

Fort William.

Boat.

Most of the road at Scotland are like this. Narrow and curve. On the way going back Edinburgh.

What a bad day, we can’t find any room at Edinburgh, all the hotel was fully booking. We try our luck by going to Glasgow see whether got room or not. Glasgow is a modern city and the largest city in Scotland. Bridge in Glasgow.

Unfortunately, we still can’t find any room in Glasgow :( . Around 1am, we decided go back Liverpool. We can’t find the right way to the highway and trap in Glasgow for half an hour  . We get caught by speeding camera when on the way back to Liverpool  and I’m the driver at that time. We reach Liverpool around 5.30am morning and everybody tired. So, our trip to Scotland ended on day 4, we all rest at Liverpool home on day 5.

Next post is the day 6, we went to north Wales !

Edinburgh, Scotland by uncle chan

Hello, time to post the story of Scotland trip because I’m lazy update here since this trip already passed 2 week ago haha. Me and my friends had a Scotland trip for 4days started on 15 July 2009. Definitely we need to skip class because it’s impossible to have 4days straight holiday :D . Scotland is a country that part of United Kingdom and just located north of the England. We are going to Scotland by this rental car, Vauxhall – Corsa 1.4 with 5 door.

Our racing car, 烈火战车!

You can’t see Vauxhall car in Malaysia :) . This is the cheapest rental car for below 25years old. It cost us 215pound for 7days include insurance and an extra driver. For those above 25years old can get a cheaper price. Don’t know why have the 25years old rule :???: .

We rent this car from Arnold Clark, one of the car rental company in United Kingdom. We drive this car more than 1000km within 7days !

This is a manual gear car. They prefer manual gear more than automatic gear car, weird. It is right-hand side drive (same with Malaysia) but the corner signal is on left hand side and sweeper on right hand side. Be careful, there are many speed limit camera in England !

On the way to Edinburgh – the capital city of Scotland. From picture below, It’s 7.48am morning and 15 Celsius. A bit raining on that day. It took about 4 hours from Liverpool to Edinburgh. Do research on the route with Google Earth before start your trip, it really helpfully and accurately. All the road sign are same with Malaysia, only one difference is they using ‘Mile’ while Malaysia use ‘Kilometer’.

Finally we reached Edinburgh. Take some pictures first. Train station down there.

This bus exactly same with Liverpool city sightseeing bus, just the word “Edinburgh” different.

This is the main street named High Street at Edinburgh old town, all tourist come here. A lot of souvenir can be found here.

Middle of the street, got a statue and a church – St. Giles’ Cathedral.

This is the church. Beautiful inside but not really difference compared to other church I visited in UK.

This building is Bank of Scotland, I  know because of Google Earth :) .

Bi~bi~bi~Bi~Bi~Bibi~BiBIbi~~ Scottish and his classic instrument.

Still in the High Street but different view.

The Queen’s official residence in Scotland. When she come Scotland, she stay here :) . Entry is not free.

Outside view of the palace. It’s closed, some more I not desire to pay to take a look inside.

Lets go to Holyrood Park, it just opposite of the The Queen’s official residence in Scotland.

This is view of Holyrood Park. We climb till the top following the path.

On the way going to the top.

Warning sign…. who dare to climb ?

We are finding the right path going to the top. Do you see one people on the top there ?

Yeah, here is the top. There is another higher hill but we decided give up. Full view of Edinburgh city.

Don’t walk too close to the edge , no cover there ……

We stay here more than 2 hours, take a picture before go back hotel.

We are going back to the hotel after Holyrood Park. Night view of Edinburgh.

Far view on the Edinburgh castle.

Far view also on the Princes Street.

Midnight in Edinburgh. No people, big different to the morning.

Night view on the church. That’s all for our 1st day in Edinburgh, we visit Edinburgh castle on the 2nd day morning.

Morning of the 2nd day. Here is it, entrance of the Edinburgh Castle.

13 pound per entry for adult.

I visited many castle , and Edinburgh I rate it the best castle.

difference view from Edinburgh castle.

Again but another guy at Edinburgh Castle.

Some picture inside Edinburgh Castle.

So big 8-O

Many guns combined into one ?

Kids playing around ….

We took 3hours to visit Edinburgh Castle because it area very large and lot of things to explore. High Street again after visited Edinburgh Castle.

Scotland Parliament.

Free entry to Scotland Parliament.

Edinburgh Castle on the top, seen here from the Grassmarket.

Far view to the Bank of Scotland.

Another hill at Edinburgh. Calton Hill , this hill much lower than Holyrood park. Good place to see full view of Edinburgh at night.

Night view from Calton Hill.

Edinburgh really a nice place and worth to visit :) . I recommended stay at Edinburgh for at least 3 days if you planned to visit here. Unfortunately we just stay for 2 days and not enough time to fully explore Edinburgh.
